Essential Travel Advice
Getting There & Ercan Airport
Ercan International Airport (ECN) is the primary gateway into North Cyprus, located near Lefkoşa. Alternatively, you can fly into Larnaca Airport in the South and cross the border easily via taxi or rental car.
Car Rentals & Left-Side Driving
Driving is on the left side of the road (British standard). Renting a car is highly recommended to explore Karpaz and mountain castles. GPS apps work perfectly fine.
Border Crossings (Green Line)
There are currently 9 active border crossing points across the island. European, UK, US, and most global passports can cross freely 24/7 without visa fees. All you need is a valid passport.
Currency & Payments
The official currency is the Turkish Lira (TRY). However, Euros (€), British Pounds (£), and US Dollars ($) are widely accepted in all major hotels, restaurants, and historical sights.
